The video begins with Melody sitting on the concrete floor of her kennel. But the moment she spots the volunteer filming, her tail starts wagging before the rest of her body even moves. She gets to her feet, walks over with careful little steps, and happily leans in for attention. On-screen text shares the reason she’s there: Melody was left chained up and abandoned, forced to slowly starve before she was finally rescued.

As the volunteer gently pets her, Melody relaxes almost immediately. She even stands up to get a little closer, soaking up every bit of affection she can. It’s hard not to notice how thin she still looks, but it’s just as hard to miss the hopeful expression on her face. Despite everything she’s been through, she still has kindness in her heart.

According to the rescue, Melody is dog-friendly, incredibly gentle, and wonderfully submissive. She is also heartworm positive, though a $300 sponsorship is available to help cover treatment after she’s adopted or rescued. Approved rescue groups can also pull her at no cost, giving her even more chances to find safety.

The shelter dog’s video has already received nearly 2,000 likes in less than a day. One person noticed her adorable heart-shaped nose in the comments, while another even offered to pay her adoption fee. Others filled the comments with prayers and hopes that this lovable shelter dog finally finds the family she’s waited so long for.
